It is already in the middle of summer. Vacation is almost coming which makes every student excited. Yet there are things that the school principal and teachers must do to validate everything everyone has done inside the learning area. School leaders are the ones who are assigned in administering a classroom walkthrough to ensure the improvement of the teachers, students and the school.

School leaders must be able to stay in focus to this observation because it highly matters. A walkthrough must be done properly. There are things that the school leader must obtain in his mind to give what is truly beneficial in the learning environment. Classroom walkthroughs are also known as classroom observations. Some would even prefer to call it learning walks. The process is a tool for the professional development of school teachers. Here are things that can help you conduct a good walkthrough.

Before starting the walkthrough, the school leader must know things that reflect to the method first. Though observing the class may only take you a minimum of three minutes yet there are still a wide variety of things that you must do. It is advised to have the observation only for a few minutes. It is not only the school leader who is involved in this procedure but the executives, instructional leaders and the educators are also part of it as well.

What the observation gives are opportunities in giving feedback to the performance of the teachers. The response can generally help these educators learn more about what ways they must improve and the things they are excellent in doing. Aside from that, the status of the learner achievement is also observed.

When doing the observation, it is crucial to observe the engagement of students to the lesson the teacher gives. It actually takes only a few seconds or minutes to know if they are really engaged in their work. What they are doing inside the classroom can already answer it. Just by writing, listening or interacting with the educator is already a sign that they are engaging in what is happening inside the room.

You must observe the lessons given particularly the learning objectives. Assessment must be done here through looking at what the teacher is teaching. It is important that the learning objectives are connected or aligned with the curriculum. What the educator is sharing to the students must coincide to what he is writing on his lesson plan. Ethical standards must also be a part of this procedure.

It is crucial that the educator must deeply align the lessons given at that day to the former learning objectives. Doing it can help the students understand the lesson effectively. Teaching a certain lesson is actually a step by step procedure. Everything must be in order.

The instructional strategies of the educator basically matters as well. You may look at how the teachers work by discussing the lesson. There are actually various sets of strategies in which a teacher must practice. The strategies may also lead to the work and participation of the students such as how they answer questions and follow directions. They may also take down notes or answer problems.

Before you start the walkthrough, you must inform the school staff first. Safety and health contents must also be observed. Though the visit may only be done for at least three minutes but it is recommended that you tell the teacher if you are going to stay for a few more minutes. The observation does not only benefit the teachers but you, as an observer, as well.
