Do It Yourself Damaged Hair Repair Products

By Della Monroe

We all want to look our best and a part of that is what is sitting on top of our heads. There is hope for us all even if we have nothing but a messy frizzy mess. Just go to the kitchen and look through your cabinets because you will find Damaged Hair Repair Products you never dreamed were in the kitchen.

Olive oil is something most people have in their home already for cooking. What they may not have known is that it is full of emollients that have a softening quality. The same stuff that beauty aide companies use in their shampoos and conditioners.

Coconut oil also contain the same fatty acids and emollients. When either or both oils are massaged on and left for an hour or longer it does the most good. The oil prevents water from penetrating the strands which causes it to then rise. The reason this is a good thing, is because when the shaft rises, it can break and is prone to damage.

To apply olive oil, just warm up about half a cup then massage it on the scalp and let it sit for about thirty minutes. After that you can shampoo it out. You do the same with coconut oil, then massage it directly onto the scalp and through your hair. Leave it on for at least an hour or overnight. Shampoo and rinse out.

Another really good kitchen item to use is mayonnaise. Two of the ingredients used to make it are a usually olive oil and eggs. The eggs will have lots of protein, which is great for preventing breaks while encouraging new growth and strengthening the weaker strands.

Another protein that aids in strengthening comes from eggs. Yes, eggs, so if you do not have any go buy some and mix twp of them with five tablespoons of mayonnaise. Do not beat with a fork or utensil, instead use your hand to prevent the mixture from turning liquid. You want to be able to apply a paste to your mane and leave it on for thirty minutes or more. Then just shampoo out.

The reason we even need to figure out these home made techniques is because no matter how careful we may have been with our grooming habits, much of what we have been taught is incorrect. When shampooing, it will actually break the strands when we rub shampoo down its length. Also, rubbing a towel to dry is harmful. Instead, leave it wrapped up to soak up the moisture.

Some other tips to keep your mane healthy and beautiful are to use conditioner on the tips of tresses, shampoo the scalp when washing instead of the entire length of the strands and protect your locks when swimming and use a deep conditioner afterwards. Also, your apply sunscreen when applying it to the rest of your body.
